Operational procedures

The economic commitment that a company must sustain for the requirements of electric and thermal energy, suffers from many and various factors, tied both to the internal characteristics of use and to the debit policies of the supplying body. Effective management is only possible thanks to technological tools that enable the activation of appropriate optimization and savings systems. An industry that intends to consume less must have solutions that allow a rational use of energy, which must be considered as a strategic component of the company's business, which must develop a policy aimed at reducing consumption.

It is therefore necessary:

  • to determine the incidence of energy costs per production unit;
  • to avoid unnecessary costs due to poor quality and energy’s management.

RENOVIS designs, manufactures and manages energy efficiency systems for small, medium and large industrial and commercial companies. Furthermore, it guarantees the complete assistance to the customer during the whole life cycle of the plant, through its own team of technicians and engineers specialised, prepared, and by the use of instrumentation with a high technological content, put in place to allow the full achievement of the efficiency results foreseen during the study phase of the work. The service offered extends to the entire process of realisation of the intervention: from the evaluation of energy, environmental, logistical and economic feasibility, to the preliminary investigation of all authorisation, environmental, fiscal and safety practices, up to installation, commissioning and subsequent management.

More specifically, the operational procedure conducted by RENOVIS is divided into the following phases:

  • Pre-feasibility analysis:  the RENOVIS technicians meet the customer and give an initial general assessment of the current state of the plant and the possibilities for intervention, based on inspections and consumption data provided by the customer himself.
  • In-depth on-site energy audit: once the preliminary technical and economic cost-effectiveness of the intervention has been established, RENOVIS takes care of obtaining from the customer the entire energy data fundamental for an in-depth analysis of the current situation of the plant, also through highly technological measuring and monitoring instruments.
o Census of users
o Collection of information on the operating characteristics of the system, the adjustments adopted (if any), the annual use (hours of operation)
Measurement of consumption through the installation of appropriate measurement systems
o Possible installation of test systems on non-regulated systems, for which it would be impossible to model the behaviour of the system mathematically.
  • Data analysis: based on the data collected, Renovis elaborates the technical and economic feasibility of the intervention (cost/benefit assessment - estimation of potential energy savings and cost of solutions).
  • Commercial proposal: The results obtained are presented to the customer, together with the energy efficiency plan and the assessment of the return on investment (ROI).
  • Design: RENOVIS uses special software (e.g. Simulink®) to develop processes to simulate the pre-operam situation and the post-intervention operation of the system, highlighting its favourable aspects from an energy and monetary economic point of view. This is because it is fundamental for RENOVIS to analyse the performance of the systems in different working conditions. In doing so, all the physical laws at the basis of the processes are considered, in addition to the operating constraints required by the production logic (hours of activity, plant restrictions, quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the final product, etc.). RENOVIS is able to produce an appropriate model of the initial situation of the plant and to study different possibilities of regulation. The use of appropriate design software essentially involves two successive phases: model definition and model analysis.
  • Financing of the project.
  • Preparation of a PPPM (Proposal for a Project and Programme of Measure) for the request of access to the economic benefit of TEEs.
  • Realization and installation of the efficiency system and of the measurement system: once the real convenience of the intervention has been verified and the customer has given his consent, RENOVIS takes care of the complete realization of the work together with its partners, without the customer having to bear any inconvenience. It also provides for the implementation and installation of the measurement and monitoring system necessary to determine the amount of savings achieved as a result of the additional work at the expense of the customer
  • Installation and Commissioning: once the project has been completed, RENOVIS installs the new system and remains close to the customer as regards assistance in the event of malfunctions and the progressive monitoring of the energy savings achieved (see the section on "measurement and monitoring").
  •  Assistance, determination and reporting of savings (RVC)

The entire manufacturing process is carried out in compliance with the regulations in force in the field of industrial energy efficiency, with the help of all the scientific knowledge relating to the field of study and the best technologies available on the market. The analysis and design timing ranges from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the users to be monitored. The commitment for the customer is almost absent: it is required the support (for a few hours) to RENOVIS' personnel by an employee who knows the systems, is able to provide the necessary information and can operate on the switchboards.

Very flexible contractual solutions allow the customer to cancel the investment costs when operating in EPC mode (see "sales and financing" section), while a highly qualified technical assistance service ensures the continuous and constant availability and efficiency of the plants, maintaining their technological value throughout their useful life.
