Revamping of steam plants

10%
NATURAL GAS SAVING (240.000 SCM/YEAR)
Thermal power station 1
The intervention concerned the recovery of heat from the fumes coming out of 2 boilers for the preheating of the water of the food of the boilers themselves. The two boilers are newly installed and replace the three pre-existing boilers. The efficiency intervention is constituted by the preheating of the food water of the new generators obtained through the installation of two smoke/water heat exchangers (one per boiler), also called economizers.

Thermal power station 2
The intervention involved the installation of a single heat recovery system that exploits the thermal energy contained in the fumes of the 3 boilers in service at the power plant. This heat is reused to preheat the food water of the generators themselves and preheat the water used to finish the fabrics.
This recovery can be obtained in a centralized way through a single heat exchange tower divided into two stages. The project also includes the revamping of the thermal power plant: the refractory of the boilers will be renovated and the existing burners will be replaced with new ones with high efficiency and low polluting emissions (Low NOx).

Results obtained:
  • Thermal energy saving: 2.070.000 kWh/year
  • Primary Energy Saving: 200 Toe/year
  • Saving of natural gas: 240.000 scm/year
  • CO2 not released into the atmosphere: 468 tons/year
  • Payback intervention: about 36 months

The system has been equipped with a monitoring system able to measure and historicize the post-intervention consumption. This is essential for taking stock of and verifying the energy savings achieved.

The intervention has been analysed, designed and implemented by RENOVIS.
