What is an industrial energy audit
With the term industrial energy audit, we refer to an evaluation of the plans regarding the saving of energy consumptions of an industry. The topic is regulated by EU norms and in particular by the 2012/27/UE that defines the Energy Audit as “a systematic procedure whose goal is to help gaining a good level of understanding of the energy consumption of an industrial or commercial plant, or a public or a private service, to pinpoint and quantify the energy savings under a cost-benefit profile, and to help report the results on the matter”.
The energetic diagnosis of an industrial plant is helpful when it comes to conceive strategic plans for an industry’s energy saving activity and consequently to improve the energy efficiency of a plant.
Which industries have to undergo an Energy Audit?
According to what is stated in the Legislative Decree 102/2014, some types of plants, also known as energy intensive, have to regularly undergo evaluation of the energetic consumption. Among these industries, there are, for example, those that work in the iron and steel sector, or the metallurgic one, or, in general, those that consume more than 2.4GWh/a. Not only, the diagnosis is compulsory for those companies that have more than 250 employees and those that invoice more than 50 million euros per year and that have 43 million euros or more in profit per year.
