One of the pillars of industrial production is the exploitation of thermal processes of different nature that are based mainly on the use of heat-carrying fluids, among which the main ones are air, saturated steam and water. The choice of substance is closely linked to the generation systems used to produce the heat, mostly combustion plants, boilers or industrial steam generators.

In these cases, the use of fuel is considerable and by nature, it grows with the increase in the size of the production plant. In recent years, enormous efforts have been made by energy efficiency companies to find solutions to this issue that aimed to maintain the production standards of the plants while reducing fuel consumption.

Types of thermal saving

Energy efficiency solutions for existing systems


Many of the customers who turn to Renovis use outdated steam generators and boilers. By making these plants more energy efficient we can significantly improve combustion quality and thermal efficiency. There are two solutions to achieve these goals: replace the entire equipment of the plant or make changes to the installed boilers to increase efficiency.

Waste heat recovery


Another possible intervention that Renovis can carry out is the conversion of the so-called heat waste from discard into an energy source. The fuel used in the production plants, in fact, produces both a useful quota of energy and a quota of waste. The thermodynamic potential of the latter usually goes to waste, even though it can still be used in the plant. Renovis works to ensure that heat waste is recovered and studies solutions for its new integration into the production cycle, so as to reduce the customer's fuel costs.

Heat recovery on compressors


The latest type of intervention for thermal saving implemented by Renovis is based on heat recovery on compressors. Under normal circumstances, the energy consumed by an industrial compressor is transformed into heat during the compression phase and then dispersed; with the help of Renovis, however, a fraction of it can be recovered and reused to heat up rooms, production facilities and, in some cases, for heating the water used by the oil/water heat exchangers.
